Wrong selection of a vocation… No man can succeed in a line of endeavor which he does not like. The most essential step in the marketing of personal services is that of selecting an occupation into which you can throw yourself wholeheartedly. – Napoleon Hill
The above quote is from the book Think and Grow Rich, and I know this to be true from personal experience. I wasted 8 years of my life working a job I hated. All with the hopes of, “moving up”, but moving up never came because my heart wasn’t in it. I couldn’t devote myself wholeheartedly: so promotions never came.
Maybe you can relate. Perhaps you have an awesome idea for a food business (or other great idea) but fear holds you back because you feel your job is, “safe.” Well, I can tell you from past experience that no job is ever truly safe. Both jobs I held over those eight years went through a series of lay offs, and although I escaped, every fiber of my being wished I would have been let go so I could have been set free to do something I truly love.
Success will come only when you truly believe in what you are doing. When you LOVE going to work every day. When your mind is constantly processing ideas and thinking about how to grow that big thing into an even bigger thing, that is when you will begin to see huge success in your career and life.
So take a leap of faith and start doing something you truly love and everything else will follow.
