Work now, play later

Today I will do what others won’t, so tomorrow I can accomplish what others can’t!

I love this quote, because, lets face it. There are no shortcuts to success. There are no “life hacks,” or “work hacks” that will make you a millionaire overnight. There is no such thing as an “overnight success.” I guarantee you that companies that seemed to have come from nowhere have a long history. Many had even started other businesses that failed.

The “what others won’t” component of this quote is nothing more than HARD WORK. The, “what others can’t” component of this is the motivation behind the hard work. What other’s can’t is: retire early, give generously, fund other businesses, provide well being for your family, and the list can go on and on.

I have recently come to realize that the hard work you are putting in….what you think is hard work probably isn’t hard enough. Sure, there is the idea of working smarter so you can work less, but what are you doing in the time you are working. Are you working on things that really matter? The things that will actually grow your business.

I like the term IPAs. Income Producing Activities. Revenue is the lifeblood of business – what are you doing in your business to grow revenue? Because at the end of the day revenue also builds wealth. What percentage of the things you work on actually generate revenue?

Sometimes working hard is also putting in the hours. If there isn’t enough time in a day to get everything done, and you aren’t doing enough IPAs, it’s probably time to start staying on the clock a bit longer.

The life of an entrepreneur isn’t easy. Many of us started a business because we wanted freedom. But, often times that freedom won’t last unless you buckle down NOW….for a short period of time, get down in the weeds and WORK HARD. So that that in the future you can have the future and dreams that you truly desire.
